The photo
Every reading has a photo of the meter from the day it was read. Open it and zoom in.
That is the point: the number on your invoice is not someone’s word against yours — it is in a photograph, with a date. If you think your bill is high, look here first.
How to check your own bill
- Look at this month’s reading and the previous one.
- Subtract them — that is your consumption in kWh.
- Compare it with the kWh on the electricity line of your invoice.
They should match. If they do not, tell the committee.
If something looks wrong
If you see a jump you cannot explain — you were away, and it reads double — talk to the committee before you pay. Readings go through review precisely to catch that sort of thing, but people miss things, and the photo is there to be checked.
Who reads the meters
Usually the caretaker, who walks the meters. A reading does not go straight in: the committee reviews and approves it. Two people see the number before it becomes your bill.
